“I recently got three bids for pouring a new driveway. Can you believe that the high bid was $3,400 and the low bid was $2,400 . How do you explain the wild variation in price? It just doesn’t pencil!”. Equally amazing were the tree/stump removal bids. I had a low of $1,400 and a high of $2,400. The high one said it was due to the high dump fees to get rid of the trees. I’m not sure that justifies that $1000 on this job. BTW, it was a one day job and I think the guy with the lowest bid actually did the BEST work. His follow-thru was great and he left the job site in very nice condition.
